What is a DIY post-bacc?

I've been seeing users posting this as an alternative to an SMP to repair their GPA. I assume DIY means do it yourself, but what is it exactly?

It means taking more undergrad classes without being enrolled in a formal program. There are also non-SMP formal post-baccs where you take undergrad classes within a formal program.

DIY is often the cheapest option, thus why it's recommended so frequently.
