What is a full course load?

What is a full course load? Is 11 credits a full course load? 4undergrad +4undergrad +3 grad? I could've taken painting, but why?

Well, at my alma mater, if you are registered for 12 credits or greater, you are considered a fulltime student. However, I tend to identify a full course load with the perception that undergraduate students average around 16 or so credits per semester.

12 is the magic number for credit hours. At least as an undergrad. Unless you have a full time job 12 is a pretty small number though..at least to me but I constantly have over 18 most of the time.

Generally 12 credits is considered full time, but as the first response said, this doesn't tend to be much. 15-16 credits is usually a good load, unless you're working full time. At my school, you have to have Dean permission to take more than 18 in any given semester.

Theoretically, if your school requires 120 credits for graduation, 12 credits a semester would be 5 years, whereas 15 credits would only be 4.

For me full time students were registered for 12 units or more. Full load was usually 16 units.

I started out at 12 hours my first semester of college. The second semester, I took 19...the work wasn't that bad, but the amount of time I spent in class was a little too much. I'm doing 18 this semester, and I'll probably take it down to 16 next semester, because classes tend to get harder the deeper you get into school. I'm a music major as well as a pre-med student, so I really have to find a good balancing point.

hehe. No, i did not live in a residence hall and no, I am not a hermit. Though I did live 15 minutes away from campus.

It depends on how your school counts courses, are most courses worth 3 or 4?

At my school most classes were 4, so 16 was the standard load. You could go as low as 12, but it'd look like you were a lazy bum.

I would never go under whatever taking 4 "regular" classes is.

If taking extra credit hours will help you graduate early, then it is very helpful. I saved an entire year of tuition and living expenses. If not, then you are better off taking fewer courses and getting all As. Most schools don't seem to care that I graduated early, but they are very concerned with GPAs.

Well, that costs a lot more. If you are doing it to avoid paying tuition one year, then its worth it.

yea for us taking extra course = no extra charge haha. so yea i maximized the amount of courses i can take to decrease the cost class hehe.
