Hi all,
I have been researching several dental schools as I have attempted to decide what schools to apply to next week. I have noticed that a large majority of schools request that we submit EITHER a pre-dental committee report OR 3-4 (depending on the school) letters from professors, etc. My question is this: What is classified as a pre-dental committee report? Is the committee report simply a letter of reccommendation that is made after a pre-health interview is conducted? Or, is it a letter that the committee writes after combining all of the letters we have given to the committee?

Thank you for your help! Your answers will either really relax me or FREAK me out!

Have a good day!

Some undergrad schools have pre-health, pre-dental, etc committees who write a letter for you. You would probably know if your school had one. Just get letters of rec's from your professors.

Thanks for the response. I guess I should clarify-- I have a pre-committee letter already, but am lacking in other letters of reccommendation (I graduated a few years ago and many professors either have left or don't know me well enough).

It seems that different schools all call them different names (like Committee Letters, committee reports, committee evaluations)-- and I don't know if they all encompass the same thing: A basic reccommendation from the committee. I know that some pre-health committees compile all of the letters from professors and dentists and make one large letter- Is this a committee report?

Do you see where my confusion is coming from? My specific pre-health committee just interviews students (there are two professors and the pre-health advisor on the committee), and they generate a letter based on a long questionairre that the student fills out, and how the interview went. They never emcompass any other letters of reccommendations. I hope that this will suffice as the "committee" letter that most dental schools talk about.

Please let me know what you think

Ah, sorry I don't know the answer since my school didn't offer committee letters. My guess would be that you're fine with what you have though.

Thanks for your advice.

Any advice from people who have applied in the past or have any other knowledge on this subject?

Thanks,
Atticus

Based on my experience, the committee letter is a letter written by your pre-health advisor based on a compilation of letters from your professors and dentists. At times they may include other letters along with the committee letter. Hope it helps.
