Subluxation is a term that indicates that two bones that normally have an interface are not aligned properly, but are not fully dislocated. The term can be used for the spine or extremety joints.

The pathophysiology is varied. Various arthritidies can lead to subluxation, as can traumatic injury.

If you are talking about the chiropractic definition of subluxation, it is not visible on radiographs.
