What is applying late?

So, I was just wondering at what point everyone things you are officially "applying late" in the cycle? Do you think July 1st is late? August 1st? What is average? Thanks for any insight!

For me, late means by the time most schools read your application, there will be few interview slots left.

I think relatively early is having your file complete in August.
Late is October. If your application to a school is not complete by the middle of October, don't bother completing it.

Really? I just became complete at schools during the first week of October...and have 4 interviews already. I say if you have the energy and money, keep applying in October/November. I'm still going to send out a few applications in the next couple of weeks.

Edit: Just wanted to add that after reading this forum prior to applying, I thought I was doomed applying "late" in October, which is not the case. I know that it's better to be complete as early as possible, but don't stress out if that is not working out.

Conventional pre-med wisdom says the earlier the better. However, unless you are ok with taking a year off, you shouldn't let being "late" stop you from applying.

Well, the latest scores accepted by most schools are from a September MCAT. I took the MCAT at the end of August, which was part of the reason I wasn't complete until October. I would say August and September are late just because if you get your score back, and you are not happy with it, you can't really take it again for the same application cycle.
