I've got my BS in Business but am looking to apply to vet school. I need to get the pre-reqs done. I took a few science courses in undergrad (Graduated 2005) and got As in them all. I work full time and can't really afford to go back to school full time, but will if that's the only way.

I am considering
1) PostBacc Program
2) Second Bachelors in Bio
3) Taking science pre-reqs at a local school

I have an overall GPA on the lower side, but a high GRE score.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

What's a "lower" overall GPA? < 3.0? I know some formal postbacs have dentistry, optometry, and vet students but you would have to inquire with individual postbacs to see if they would allow you to enroll. Of course, you could do an informal postbac at any univ.

Or you could just take the prereqs as a non matric student or just enroll for the 2nd bachelors and not finish it (like how I did it).

Enroll as a second bachelor's and not finish it? Would that work if you had to take all of the med school prereqs? Wouldn't financial aid be available to you if you did this, too?

If you're enrolled in a degree seeking program you can usually get financial aid although you are only eligible for 5 years total financial aid from the federal gov't so part of my loans are private. That is why a post-bacc IS the better alternative if you can do it.

Overall GPA is a 3.2, major GPA (business though) is 3.45, and my last 60 credits is a 3.6 (I didn't do much work my first two years )

lots of good ideas!!! Thanks!!

I didn't even think of enrolling as a 2nd bachelors degree and just not finishing it. PostBacc would be my preferred way to go, but I can't afford to not work for a year. But declaring a 2nd bach and getting the rate of a student going for a degree would be much cheaper, and then I can just take the classes I need for the pre-reqs.

Is there some schools that will look 'better' then others? I'm in California and wanted to take everything at one school (2 if I need a specific course not offered there)
