so ive read that june is the golden month for submitting the primary. I would really like to know whether submitting in July is still considered early (mid to late july) or average? if its average, would submitting the secondaries immediately after theyre received put me in the above average/early category?

im concerned as my stats are border (3.4/40 mcat) and i want to have a good shot at top tiers.

your clarification would be grateful!

You think your MCAT is border? Hopefully that is a typo and you meant 30. If not, smh...

To answer your question.. Turn in ASAP.. It doesn't matter when you get them.

A 3.4 is not going to give you a "good shot" at top tiers no matter when you apply, even with a 40 MCAT. Sure, apply, but definitely don't neglect the mid tiers when applying. The earlier the better, but a July submission should not confer a big disadvantage as long as you are quick with your secondaries. :luck:

Yeah, look for the secondaries under the school-specific threads and pre-write your secondaries. You'll be able to submit them on the same day.

Figure out when you want to be complete and work backwards.

If you want to be complete by the end of Aug, you should be verified by mid Aug. I think this year you had to submit by early-mid July to get there.

i really appreciate the responses! The reason why I say my application is border despite my mcat is because of my low prereq grades (i have several C/C+ grades that I retook/took upper division courses and got A's)/ I noticed that my gpa is in the bottom 10% or below.

I know a 3.4 wont give me a good shot because of my gpa; I'm definitely applying to mid and low tiers as well as I really just want to get into a U.S. md program near my area. I just want to give the top tiers a shot with the best odds, you know?

I aim to be verified and complete by mid to late august; i will submit by secondaries asap as well given the school specific prompts; from what ive read, this shousld give me completes by the beginning to mid/late sept at the latest. Is this timeline okay to get as much advantage as possible?

Since you are obviously talking about next cycle, why don't you submit the first day you can in June?

Okay I'm a neurotic loser here but I can't stress trying to do this enough as it saved so much ugly stress. I submitted at literally 9:30 on June 5th and was verified 3 hours later. Say what you want, but I didn't have to deal with a lot of annoying stress had I submitted later.

Submit as early as your can. Preferably as close to 9 AM as you can. I sent mine in at 9:45 AM and was verified the next day at noon. Just get it over and done with. People submitting a day or two later are still verified before the apps are sent to the schools, so don't stress out if you can't submit it on the first day.
