what is considered late for submitting secondaries to DO schools?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
No, I believe Goro typically states you want things in by Thanksgiving. December would likely be when you can start saying you're late.

Lots of thread on this lately.

if you are a good applicant you will be fine if you are in by December.

Source: applied to over 10 around thanksgiving, got interview invites from all but 2 or 3

How long ago was this and what were your stats if you don't mind me asking?

Those stats are very good, most would have advised you to go MD, what encouraged you to stick with DO schools?

I did apply MD. Unfortunately my MCAT did not go as well as it was projected to go based on practice tests, and I had sent in apps to 30 MD schools before I got my score back. Most of the school I applied to were top 50 schools, because my EC's, GPA, and projected MCAT were all in line with those schools. After I got my score back I figured I would add a couple higher yield schools and just ride it out, got a couple interviews, got waitlisted, and didnt want to wait another year to apply MD because unfortunately I am from a very unfriendly state and knew I didnt have much options as far as state or regional schools went other than the ones I already applied to so I sent in some DO apps. Ironically, I got into a DO school that only accepts 8-15 OOS students per year so who knows what could have happened if I cast a wider net. I am first to admit that DO school wasn't my first choice, but I am always willing to bet on myself (especially since my school has pretty heavy research and their own teaching hospital so all I am really "missing out on" is the different letters behind my name which isn't super important to me).

Moral to the story for future readers: Apply conservatively until you get that MCAT score back lol.

I had a friend submit in late March, interview in April, and was accepted. Very surprising. It was her second year applying as well.
