What is considered "late" or "early" in the application cycle?

Bump. I too am kind of confused at this. However, in my personal situation I was complete with primary early August and I think this was too late. I got all my secondaries end of August to mid September. Due to large number of secondaries, I wasnt complete at most until mid September until now (still have 2 left).

It really depends on your stats. People with similar stats to myself were applying back in june and july and have already been accepted or multiple interviews. I have one interview (Touro-NY) and am hold at 2, rejected from 3, and havent heard back from a handful. That is with the difference in a month or two

what are your stats? we applied at around the same time

Early- first minute of first day. Late-Every second that passes on.

In all seriousness, don't think about it as early or late. Always turn in stuff as soon as you can. Only think of "too late" if its around September.

Quite low. 3.1 GPA and 30MCAT. Do you have similar stats? And how are u doing so far? I dunno i feel like I was two months too late. Most people with my stats got accepted had applied the day applications opened type thing

Don't worry bro. I had a 3.8 GPA and a 28 MCAT and so far I've gotten invited to 2 interviews and no rejections.

Yeah I know how you feel about people with your stats having acceptances already. Its okay. Be confident in yourself!!

haha wow that is definitely a high GPA. I am no where near that! I know we arent supposed to think its a numbers game, but it is. On top of my numbers and applying "late", I am Canadian. I honestly dont know how the schools that accept Canadians look at this.

ps where are you interviewing dude?

Would it be too late to apply now? What is considered early and late in the app cycle?

Early is June 1st. Those folks get interviews the first round in October.

Late is Sept or later. Don't expect a whole lot. Those who apply Sept many not get interviews until the end - March

What if you applied and everything and were verified back in June but just sent updated MCAT scores in October. Would that be late?

Although I've been an avid believer of the "early= June/July and late= Sept.and later", I'm not sure about those rules any more. I turned in apps for schools in the summer and got rejected and the schools I turned in apps for in Sept. and October, I've got interviews for. This application game is crazy.

To be on the safe side though: "better late than never, but early is better"

In short, turn in stuff as soon as you are able to and keep ya head up.

Some schools put you on hold until your new MCAT is released. Others just review your application. This is probably a school by school thing. Obviously, it's better to have your final MCAT in when you submit initially, but life doesn't always work out the way we want it to. I think you'll be fine assuming your stats are ok. You have to remember, people wait until January to take the MCAT and submit scores in Feb/early March and still get in. That should give you a little perspective.

on the other hand, if you have high stats for DO schools, it will be quick. I submitted secondaries mid-September, which is "late". I interviewed at 2 places within a week and a half of submitting secondaries, and had an acceptance before October. I have friends who interviewed in March like cabinbuilder said. It's all about you. If you are competitive, you are never really too "late", but if you are lower on the scale, maybe October starts to be late

At LECOM and LECOM-Bradenton, I'm hoping to get one from NYCOM since they like New Yorkers haha

I applied only to DO schools. I think a lot of it too depends on the quantity of the applicants for any given year. The second year I applied I didn't put my application in until the end of september and didn't get my secondary until January and interviewed in March. Waitlisted in May and denied in June. The second time I applied June first, had my interview at Thanksgiving and was accepted two weeks later. I hadn't changed anything in my application except my essay and applied earlier than the previous year.
