You, and others here, are taking this message board a little too seriously.

I'm of the mind that some level of gravitas is good and necessary, just as some levity is. Take yourself too seriously and you begin to sound like you are talking out of a tin can; too much levity and you begin to sound like a clown. Obviously, this is a gradient and you adjust according to the situation. However, since this is a pre-professional forum, I'm leaning more towards the side of essential gravitas. Plenty of people, like myself, are using, or have used, this forum to learn and to derive benefit. There are other areas of SDN where you can act like a buffoon and it fits perfectly well with the scene. Not so much with a pre-professional forum where a certain amount of decorum is expected and necessary. This doesn't mean you have to talk like a stick-in-the-mud; it is possible to be light and fun without being unprofessional. That, however, is just one member's opinion. Take it for whatever it's worth. 👍
