Hi All,

I'm obviously a 1st yr student. Could someone explain what is internship? And what's the different btwn AEGD and GPR? Is clerkship a term only for MD or DO? Thx.

I guess no one wants to answer. I googled it and didn't get any internships related to dentistry.

Internship is generally a term used in medicine/surgery. It the first year of residency. Therefore, after medical school you are an 'intern' for 1 year. Then you become a 'resident'.

Clerkship is also typically used in medical school. Clerkships are the blocks med students spend on various services (surgery, medicine, pediatrics, ob/gyn, psych, neuro, family, ambulatory) during 3rd and 4th year.

AEGD is typically outpatient, business hours, no call, with reasonably healthy patients. GPR is hospital based and will often have longer hours, sicker patients, and residents will be on call and available for consults from other services in the hospital (such as medicine teams).
