What is it like to do the ADEX/CDCA Exam 10 years out of dental school in an alien dental school?

Hi. Where are you giving the exam? I am in a similar situation. Have not worked on typhodonts for years.

You can buy a model typodont and mount and practice before the exam in your office. If you have some flexibility in dates you can try and find out which sites have the fewest candidates. This is better because you don't have to wait around as much for examiners to check your progress. I would try and practice everything before the real thing and watch youtube videos on all the sections to get useful tips.

Thanks for your replies guys. I am planning on going to Howard university in DC. How can I find out where has the fewest candidates? how much equipment do I need to bring with me? what is the pass rate? do u think I have a good chance of passing? I did general dentistry for 6 years but not necessarily been doing 'perfect' preps.

you have a pretty good chance. don't worry too much, look up stevenson dental on youtube.

My test had quite a few people like that, many were actually specialists like ortho and OS that had never touched a prep in years and they all passed. just practice and bring everything you might need with you. rubber dam, endo, motors, burs, composite etc. just assume the school provides nothing

So everything is on Manikins now for ADEX?

@Pedsteeth22 yes you can do everything on manikin now but you can still choose live patient if you want.

If they have electric handpieces at the school, you will need a separate motor. you have to check with the specific school about what they have for you.

No I mean the opposite, you should bring your own handpiece and motor if you need it. you have to check with the school if your handpiece will fit their systems

It is doable. Just make sure to follow what is written on their evaluation criteria. This is the criteria used in grading.
