Does anyone on here have any first hand or any hand knowledge about St. Matthews? I know it is not one of the "big" four, but it is still a decent school. It appears adequate with some speciality residency placement in the US.
In case I do not get into a US med school, I wanted some options because I do not care about the fact many say a US DO is better than a FMD.
I want to be a MD and not have to defend my degree. Rarely, do patients ask where did you go to school? However, they sure will ask you what the hell is a DO? And for those that went to the Caribbean, most will judge you on your abilities once you start to practice, not which school you attended. Everyone is not a great test taker or maybe someone had a bad semester.
I know several med students that are book intelligent and are having a difficult time with clinicals. Patients do not care if you can get a 95% on some test. They want a physician that can apply their knowledge and help them.
Sorry for the rant but I hate all the DO bashing of Caribbean schools to justify the DO because the Caribbean schools grant the MD.
Any info on the school would be appreciated!!! Average GPA, MCAT, do you get a decent education, is it a degree/money mill, etc.
Thanks, all!
