Hi SDNers,

I have a cousin who is getting his MBBS from China. What is it? What is the next step for him if he wants to transfer here to US? extra courses, etc?

I have no clue of it. Can anyone give me some info please.

Thanks

basically the equivalent of completing the 4 years of med school in US..

that means ur cousin needs to take the USMLEs and get approval to apply for residency in US..

Working at McDonald sounds fair. He'll need to take the USMLE to get into a residency. However if he doesn't do clinical rotations in the US then I think its safe to assume he's going to have to repeat medical school in the US.

Now now, we should all understand the importance of approaching foreign cultures with an open mind 🙄 and if not, i attached a quick read for anyone interested 🙂

EDIT: attach doesn't work, here's a link

What? Are you trying to establish the "anti-indianism" after "anti-semitism?" Is that what you're trying here?

Man, look at them dancing, singing, jumping over, mimicking, behaving, etc. hundreds of people in the movie. What is with them, and how is it related with the link you've given to us about "cultural competence in medicine!.."

They looked so funny, and MBBS = Mouth Big Brain Small is what comes to mind top of the head... So, what?

You need to learn if you do silly things like they did in the movie, people have the right to criticize it. It's fair. Both sides make fun of the other side.

You guys do realize that getting into an MBBS program in India is nearly 3X more difficult than getting into Medical School in the states right? I'm talking about local students (from India) who apply for non-NRI seats. Plus, those Indians are damn hard working, EVERY student who I know of who studied in an Indian MBBS scored 99s. That's over 20 students. Some of them scored 98s and 97

Anyone who didn't score high enough cannot get into a residency in the States, either. I guess everybody also realizes that.
