Perianesthesia is not a new field but it is a term that is being used more frequently, which describes the practice of anesthesia as a whole. It includes pre-op, intra-op,and post-op management of the surgical pt. It is all encompassing.
Anesthesiologists are now being refered to as perioperative physicians.
