I wish it was true. I am from LA and there are just way too many dental offices!

Where do you practice and how is it?

I practice way south of the Mason Dixon line. Saturated.

However, I have colleagues from residency and dental school that practice in the following areas and are doing quite well:
1) Montana
2) North Dakota
3) West Virginia
Not alot of competition, in demand, healthy GP-specialist relationships, lucrative practices, lower malpractice premiums, family oriented practice thats primarily fee for service and good PPO. They're very content and work in their own office full-time (4-5 days/wk) without having to supplement by working elsewhere (corporate, etc).

In Virginia the DC and Richmond areas are completely saturated. But then in the western part of the state (read: rural) there are entire counties with a dentist.

Phoenix is awesome! Dont let the fact that 100 practices were on sale 4 years ago due to too much competition dissuade you. Las Vegas is great too - you'll have more money than you know what to do with it, you may want to bring a rake.
