Let me explain my current predicament. I am a Maryland resident and I want to attend the University of Maryland, School of Medicine. This is what I've done thus far.

Applied and was placed on pre-interview hold in December.
Sent letter of interest.
Interviewed in February.
Sent letter of intent.
Placed on post-interview HOLD in March.
Sent update letter regarding classes I've been taking and what I've been doing volunteering.
Had a physician at my volunteer send a LoR.

So as you can see, I've sent a lot of letters to the dean of admissions. I haven't heard back, unfortunately, and I'm considering sending another letter, possibly updating him on my latest grades. I'd like to know, if you were in my position, what would you do? Also, I was wondering if I should send him an email asking when would I possibly hear a decision? I don't want to come off as desperate or naggy, yet I want to make sure that they know how serious I am about wanting to go there and my dedication. I feel like if I'm going to do something, I have to act fast.

they get it, believe me, you scream, "pick me! pick me! pick me! pick me!"

now have a little dignity and stop it already

Agree with above. Just sit tight and wait. You already have a MD acceptance, so just wait it out and hope Maryland pulls through.

A post-interview hold is essentially a waitlist according to UM's FAQ on their website. Some time after interviews are done at the school, you'll be asked if you're still interested in attending. If you say yes, they'll let you know which half of the waitlist in which you fall. Typically no more than 10 students are taken off the waitlist each year.

As you can see, chances are slim once you receive a post-interview hold. If you fall in the botom half of the waitlist, you have no chance. Although your file is technically under "active consideration", current med students there will tell you that short of curing cancer, your letters won't get you off the list.

In short, just sit and wait.

You've done everything you can, unless you know a doctor who knows the dean who is willing to make a personal phone call on your behalf. I agree that anything more will seem too desperate.
