What is the cutoff for PAT section for most of the school?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
most schools are saying the avg for applicantst this cycle is 19

though i have seen people who have interviews w/ 15 and 16s. so best bet would be to look at your whole application and figure out how much damage a bad pat score will have on teh overall app. or call up nyu and give them your stats and see what they say.

gl!

Not an expert you guys, but PAT is almost universally considered to be very important. You don't want to be anywhere NEAR the cutoff. Just try your best. Anything 18+ should show you are not perceptually crippled and that is really the worst possible thing you want to tell dental schools and still be competitive...at least in the opinion of this humble pre-dent 🙂

I reviewed my current standing with U of Pacific (ie my transcripts and DAT etc) and they brought up two main concerns, one of which was my DAT AA was significantly higher than my PAT. My PAT is 20, I assumed that would be fine but they made it seem as if that was the bare minimum to consider me.

Agreed, but to answer the thread, cutoff for most schools is either 16 or 17 I believe.

Does anyone know if the scores you get at the Prometric site are your FINAL scores? Will they change when they are finalized?

Good question. I always wondered the same thing because AADSAS doesn't display your official scores, it only displays the date you took the DAT as well as the date the scores were received. I'm 99.99% sure the score don't really change...

I've heard 18 is the cutoff for PAT section for most schools. If you're really curious with a low score in PAT, call the schools and ask them and you might get your question answered.

There is no specific cutoff. They look at the exam as a whole. You definitely want to try and get 18 or above though.
