What timeline should I tell my letter writer to finish up their letter?

Each school will have a different deadline.

IMPO, you should be sending your LOR's with your secondary to have the fastest completion of your application and this have first dibs to have a review of such for interview consideration.

Thank you! But in general, what is the earliest deadline? June, July or August?
I just want to give my letter write a general idea so they won't miss it.

This. All of the schools that I applied to wanted the letters at the same time as the secondary. I did have letters get sent to a few schools earlier than my secondary due to a miscommunication with my pre-health advisor (my committee sends hard copy letters) and I had to call a couple of schools and inquire about my letter status when various portals did not get updated. LECOM seems to deviate from the norm and only want your letters after they offer an interview. So in short, for best results, have your letters sent in the vicinity of your secondary unless the school states otherwise.

June is fine. Just make sure you are using Interfolio or other dossier services. Ideally you want to send in your LORs as soon as you are given a secondary. With Interfolio, the LORs are sent online and are usually received and processed within a week by the admissions, especially when it's early in the cycle.

AACOMAS med school application is going to be updated for the 2016 application cycle, so we will be able to upload our LORs directly to the application (like AMCAS). You can still use services like Interfolio, but it won't be needed anymore.

Interfolio is costly because it charge fees (per letter) each time they send out letters. If AACOMAS can do it for free, it is really great news!

Will AACOMAS accept letters sent to them from Interfolio?
