Hello all dental students

I wanted to start collecting extracted teeth for the school. I brought a jar with 50/50 alcohol and water solution to a local practice for collecting teeth; however, the dentist asked me to have formalin (or something else???). He said OSHA has a guideline for such an infection control for extracted teeth. I just wondered where can I buy such solution? or any ideas about the solution that I should use?

Thanks!

Since formalin is pretty toxic, our school advises a 10% bleach solution (9 parts water : 1 part household bleach) and it seems to work out pretty well. Just be careful not to add too much bleach, otherwise the teeth will become overly decalcified and the canals will not be suitable for RCT.
