I'm a pre-optometry student. The hardest thing in undergraduate school is organic chemistry. What is the hardest thing in optometry school?

i think it probably depends on the school.. at my school the harder classes are psychophysics and more abstract things.. and the gazillion proficiencies on technical skills you have to go through

Certain courses throughout the first 3 years of Optometry school. Depends all on you. The hardest part from my experience back when I was in school, was the politics of the school and from what I observed. Politics in your clinical rotations as a third year and fourth. Generally speaking.
You have to go thru the program and experience it as everyone else does.
If you are good or not, no one tries to throw you out, but they can make your life VERY difficult. I know politics is part of life in everything.

My 2 cents.

Overall the classes aren't THAT bad (so far at least...I'm in the middle of my second year), well except psychophysics and neurophysiology. It's the volume of material that really kills you.

I personally struggle with optics and the procedures proficiencies the most.

However, a lot of people struggle with anatomy and neuro classes as well.

For me it's getting out of bed on cold days to go to afternoon classes. 😆 j/k

I'd say our first years are struggling with anatomy and optics. Many second years (i.e. me) are dealing with Pharm & Path. 3rd years: getting all the classwork done while being in clinic, too.

The classes in optometry school are not hard to pass in my opinion, but studying for and passing part I of boards is the most difficult and draining thing I have ever done in my life.

Definitely depends on the school. Anatomy first year at Nova was BRUTAL. I thought second year was 1000Xs easier, though Ocular Disease was pretty tough. Teachers can also make a big impact on how tough a course is, whether though how well they can make concepts clear (or not!) or how hard they make the tests, which don't necessarily reflect how much you've learned.
