Minnesota State: I've been going to interviews and they all want to know what my expectation for pay is. I don't want to undersell myself & I don't want to say a high number. Does anybody have a number? Feel free to give numbers of other pharmacies other than Walmart. THANKS!!!

the strategy should be to receive competing offers.
Ask friends to send you their offer letter with the name and district crossed out and bargain with it. I assume rural MN has high pay, but have never applied there.

"Without a formal offer on the table I do not have a full understanding of all job duties and responsibilities that will be expected of me. Therefore until I have a formal offer I am unable to discuss compensation"

Yes, rural areas pay more. I went to school out of state so have nobody I know that has recently got an offer 🙁

I say that I'm looking for a competitive rate for the area, then ask for about 10% more when the offer comes through.

I am in Iowa just finished my first year out of school aka i have been a pharmacist for a little over a year i could probably give you a decent idea however i am not thinking you will actually have to give a number and i have went from one job to another job and i was only asked when i was interviewing for my 2nd job what I was being paid currently so i really dont think its a question you have to be able to answer until you have an offer then you decide if that is enough or if you need to negotiate or look elsewhere

I just noticed this whole thing was in 1 sentence...

To the original post: pull a Socrates and ask “What’s the going rate for a new pharmacist in your company?” All in all, a quick salary average from the state isn’t hard to find:

Salary for Pharmacist in Minnesota | Salary.com

Low end of this says $61/hr with COL as of Dec 2018. So, I’d start around $62.50 and base this on your state findings and cost of living in your region. In the end, a job is a job so realize what your worth is in a tight market. I wish you well

Then the DM will respond with "okay you clearly have no experience whatsoever in retail and I do not trust that you can do a good job, you can apply again once you have a better understanding of what responsibilities are required of a retail pharmacist. good luck"
