As a new Attending, two years out, it was very surprising and almost depressing to see the views of the AMSA saying they are for a single payor system.

"If you're not a liberal by 25 you don't have a heart, if you're not a conservative by 35, you don't have a brain." I think Churchill said that....

Anyways, go through Residency, start having to pay off your loans, and then tell us where you really stand.

Honestly if I had to do it all over again, I would not choose Medicine. I'm an Anesthesiologist and look for CRNAs to be replacing us. Who gives a crap if only a dozen or so people die? Ultimately it'll still save a lot of money right. It's only a dozen.

Don't go to med school unless your parents are rich, or you'll be stuck with resentment...like me.

Hard work does not lead to reward.

Of course, when Churchill was around liberalism and conservatism had very different meanings as well. It also amazes me that people complain about a single payor system when they have never participated in one. Everyone has beliefs based on things they've heard. I'm not saying it IS the answer but not many of us have even experienced it to truly know and none of us have experienced whatever iteration would be implemented here (which it won't). Seriously, the only reason the NHS worked is because of World War II. Our government is too busy worrying about the bowl system and steroids to rebuild an entire healthcare system. We'll just put a bandaid on it like always.
