hey guys,

this poll is to give us an idea of how many applications are being submitted. If you call AADSAS: 202.667.1887 or 1.800.353.2237 they may be able to give you your AADSAS number. Or you could wait and they should send you something, i believe. I called yesterday and found out mine.
We don't need to give our exact number but a rouding if your number is 73 for example, just pick 70, if it is 76 then you could pick 80. or so.

So far it looks like there are at least 300-400 applications for sure. I don't know about those couple people who voted for 2500+ I guess they were joking. If not could someone clear up. That would not be good if 2500 applications have already been submitted in the first month. So for those people who haven't gotten their number I would holler the AADSAS people next week or so.

Also, I remember from last year after submittal people got like a print-out of their entire application giving them their grades (BCP, Science, non-science, and overall) is that the same for this year as well. I haven't gotten anything yet.

Could someone clear this up for me. ItsGavinC if you could help me clear this up or anyone else I and the rest of the SDN group would appreciate it. Thanks.

So it looks like there is definately 800-1000 applications submitted. I'm interested in next week when people start finding out their numbers. Please keep this poll upto date. Thanks

I'm getting concerned now. There are four people thus far who have selected 2500+ as their AADSAS number. Is this the truth or are you playing a joke. Please let all of us know.

Best regards,

Desi,

it could be people from last year's application cycle who decided to vote... or else it's people just screwing with you!

How is the studying coming along?

dude chill out. What possible difference could the results of this poll make? Trust me, the admissions staff isn't going to let you in because of a lower AADSAS number, especially if your DAT scores aren't even in yet. I was somewhere between #10-15 last year and I had to wait until October before I heard anything. I even sent my application in at the end of May.
The wonderful workers at AADSAS don't care about you. Yelling at them won't help. Yes it is excruciating to wait. It is going to get more frustrating as the months go by.
There's nothing you can do. Enjoy the stress of it all. Really try to make the most of the nights you stay awake worrying, making deals with God in exchange for a high DAT score...that way you'll be REALLY happy once everything works out next year.

desi why are you freaking out, its still JUNE? June is still early enough...don't freak out :)

As a sidenote, I hate these stupid polls because you have to vote in order to see the results. Perhaps some people wanted to see the results and voted randomly. Of course, AADSAS numbers don't really matter in the long run (nor in the short run).

Some good points being made. I should have put a "I don't know" as a choice but I guess 2,500-100 billion was a joke in itself. I am not freaking out. I just wish I could get some accurate data from the AADSAS people. It always seems like everytime I call I always ask the same question and I get a different reply. Some say the first batch will get out this time other say that time etc. I wish I could get consistent data. I even one time asked one of the worker what Infosource was and she didn't even know. so I decided to see how many people who applied thus far. Last year a lot of under-qualified people got in due to the lack of applications so there is a advantage to a low amount. It is a interesting correlation. In conclusion, I probably can't rest until I know the schools have received my application. I just don't want to reapply again; and i don't think I will have to as long as I get decent on my DATs...got over a month to study and I am 75% there as of today. Just focusing on Ochem and doing practice timed tests. Thanks for the posts.

I should have said: More people had a better chance of getting in due to the lower amount of applications. The "under-qualified" came from many people I know who never stepped into a dentists office for experience and still got in somewhere. One being a friend who applied to Dental, Allopathic, and Osteopathic. If my statement caused confusion or offended anyone I apologize.

Well, I got my AADSAS number in the mail today. I'm higher than 0 but less than 10. Hopefully that means good luck!
 If only the AADSAS number had a direct correlation to acceptances <sigh>.

Desi (or anyone):

How do you know there were fewer applicants last yr? For the 2002 entrance? If so, I had no idea. That must explain why they let me in! <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" />

racemic01,

Our friend YAH-E and some other people posted some trend data earlier this year. I believe around March or so after the deadline. hey, you're in that is what matters...getting in is the hard part, for all of us pre-dents. For you surviving Dental school will be. Good luck.

May I ask where you are going? How about your stats?

Regards,

For those of you who received your AADSAS numbers in the mail. What did you exactly receive? I just got the "AADSAS-on-the-web" Acknowledgment Receipt Form with my number stamped at the bottom. I was expecting that they will send us a copy of our application etc. I think my friends last year got that in the mail. Anyone's info would be appreciated.

they send you a confirmation sheet later...you must check it and make sure all the info is correct...you'll prob get it soon!
