I finished finals last Wednesday, and tomorrow I am going to begin studying for the DAT...so I'll begin studying May 16th.
I want to take it July 6th or July 11th.

What study schedule do you recommend for me? I will have about 7 weeks! I already know about DentalWork's 8-week schedule, but I'm looking for others just in case his doesn't work well for me. Thanks!

Hey, right now I am sort of in the same boat as you are, just had finals last Wednesday and have started studying hard on May 16th. I'm looking to take my test mid June.I took a Kaplan course for the DAT and at the end my instructor said that 6-9 hours a day are recommended. Now 9 hours a day seems a bit ridiculous especially if one has a work schedule on top of school such as myself.

So far what I have been doing is just dividing each day into studying two- three topics for 3 hours at a time. It is definitely a lot of studying now but its the only way I know.

What does the DentalWorks 8 week overall set up look like because this is the first I have heard of it?

I dont think there is any right answer for your question. Everyone has their own study style, study speed and unique background knowledge. We could say for example - 'study orgo for 2 weeks with the following schedule..' but if you are a chem major then this study schedule will not apply to you. Like you, I also started studying by first looking for guides and schedules that others had created. What I found is that everyone is different, and the best study schedule is one you make yourself because you know your strengths/weaknesses better than anyone else.

i tried making a schedule, but at this point, i'm just doing as much as i can per day. i started studying on the 16th and i'm taking the DAT on july 25th

i'm halfway through chad's OC and gchem videos. after that i'll probably skim through the kaplan whitebook to see if there's anything else.

for the month of june i'm gonna go through the kaplan whitebook, schaums, and cliffs for biology (all while reviewing the notes that i took from chad's videos). for the month of july i'll probably practice a lot of PAT while reviewing notes from everything else. hopefully this works :scared:

Study 10+ hours a day with relaxing breaks in between. Never take a day off. I did 14 hours a day for 3 weeks and did fine.

I'd need some HUGE motivation to push 14 hours lol...did you even get to sleep dude?

For the 1 month before my exam, which I worked out to be 1 month into my summer vacation (I took it July 6th I think...), I studied at Barnes and Nobles (where I used their shelved study materials: Cliff's AP bio, Kaplan DAT, etc) from 10 AM to 6PM every day. Each saturday, I would take a TopScore/Achiever Test leading up to the exam to mark my progress/see what I needed to keep studying.

getting yourself to the habit of studying in the first week is hard, but once you're into it, I'm sure you don't wanna waste it 🙂

Yeah man! Hahaha, I slept for like 8 hours. I slept at 1 AM and woke up at 9 AM routinely. It becomes a habit. The first few times is a pain in the neck. Once you get the hang of it, it's fine. Just make sure you're not exposed to ANY electronic devices hahaha.

Haha I know, me too! Every time I have a computer/laptop around me, I always use it. Thank god I have an iPod touch. I google some stuff on it and check my facebook occasionally to keep me sane. What I do is store my laptop away until nighttime. I would use my laptop to really go on facebook, reply to comments (lol) and then I would shut everything off and do a full length PAT test and then sleep. Did that repeatedly lol
