I dont watch any on a consistent basis, but from the episodes I have seen, Greys Anatomy and Nip/Tuck seem pretty good, in terms of entertainment. It seems none of them have any substantial level of realism.

What do you think the multitude of medical shows on TV say about societeies view of the medical profession? The job is overtly glorified and sugar coated on TV, however, these shows recieve very high ratings. And many of these shows focus on medical students/residents, not even fully fledged MDs.

What happened to scrubs anyway? Is that still on?

it's slotted for a mid-season premiere. after nbc realizes the rest of their shows suck.

by the way, how did ER not make the pole? i would have voted for Scrubs anyways, but ER has to still be popular with some SDNers...

What is Nip/Tuck? Drama, comedy, real-life?

I heart House, big time.

Also, most things on Discovery Health. Does that count?

As sad as I am that e.r. didn't make the cut, I do have to say that the best seasons were 1, 2, and 3. Mm. . . young Dr. Carter . . .

Besides, Zach Braff makes me pee myself. That guy is hilarious.

Scrubs! We taught my son to do "hungry chicken" (JD and Turk's version of high fives).

I realize that ER is over the hill and all that, but this poll without the granddaddy (Mash notwithstanding) of medical drama is useless. I mean, Nip/Tuck is hardly medical in nature, and Grey's Anatomy is closer to porn than medical drama.

Woah! Nip/Tuck is far closer to porn compared to Grey's Anatomy. lol The episode I watched showed three butts. I've sadly never seen that on Grey's.

house is def. the best

unfortunately, fox had to throw that "bones" show after it. that show STINKS. first off, no lab features those hideous, gaudy techno doodads. ugh it drives me crazy. whenever they show the forensics in the lab setting, they always have little computer noises in the background. :barf:

Nip/Tuck is the most sexed-out show on television shown before midnight. The women on there are hot, and people have sex every episode.

The theme music is the best compared to the other shows.

Completely unrealistic even on an abstract level. In some ways it distracts from the show. But the sex!

yeah, I was excited about 'bones' when they showed previews--mostly because David Boreanez is the main character--but then I watched it once, and never again. 🙁

I watch all of those shows plus ER

I love them all too :/

I can't chose

ER is the most popular and highly rated medical drama OF ALL TIME. I mean cmon the writer/producer is MICHAEL CRICHTON!!!!!

This thread is handicapped without ER.

ER. I don't watch anything else. Well, I watched Chicago Hope years ago, but ER is the only one I currently watch. And I resent that my voting option is "other" so I will not participate in the poll, lol.

Hey, has anyone seen TLC's "Untold Stories of the ER" or whatever it's called? It's absolutely horrendous. It’s all reenactments, and the actors and “effects” all suck horribly. Like this guy comes in with a 2” diameter tree branch stuck in his neck, and the doctor goes “Hmmm, looks like something serious here. Well my scalpel’s not going to work, dum dum dum how am I gonna get this thing out… Well I could try yanking, doo doo dumm…”

Bah, detestable. Anyways, ER, Scrubs, and House get my vote. I clicked House only b/c I haven’t seen Scrubs recently enough to prefer it. And ER is sinking fast, anyone still watching it? Ever since Captain Hook’s copter came back for the rest…

Scrubs all the way!! Season two gets released on DVD on November 15th! 🙂 🙂 🙂

House ... but I've converted to Grey's Anatomy until House is back.

Nip/Tuck
most unrealistic show on TV with a small bit of plastic surgery mixed in.
Entertaining though.

nip/tuck is to medicine what MASH is to the Vietnam War. But, the people on that show are so ****ed up that you can't help but watch.

LIke others have said, but I feel that continued protest is necessary in this matter:

WHERE IS ER?

Classic ER is by far the best, but I love scrubs. I can't wait till season 2 comes out on DVD.

I don't know how any of you can watch House. I mean the CSI type medicine close ups and pathology are neat, but every time I see it I'm like "yeah, that's how I want to practice medicine, be a D*#K to my patients" 😛

I love Grey's Anatomy. But just wondering, WHERE IS ER ON THAT POLL????

If only it was still running...

NO show is accurate on what a lab is, does, or looks like!

I'm surprised they don't show multicolored bubbling test tubes and Van de Graff generators throwing bolts around while some dude in a lab coat laughs maniacally.

Good analogy, but while it was definately a comment to the Vietnam War MASH is actually set during the Korean War. What a good show, Alan Alda is great.
