I'm a freshman going the "premed" route starting this fall and was curious to find out what subjects my fellow sdn peers have interest in or like the most. I think it will be interesting to know as all of you want to go to medical school, and there are obviously going to be some variety of subjects you guys like.

Immunology was my favorite class ever.

Genetics was my favorite by far. If you have the opportunity to take it I think it would be worth it.

Physiology. It was so great because it was nothing like anything else I had previously taken.

I've only finished my freshman year but so far physics has been my favorite subject.

Physiology - I took seven courses in Physio and TA'ed two of them 🙂

There is a reason why it's called the Nobel Prize in PHYSIOLOGY or medicine.

Tie between Physics 312 (Astrophysics) and 314 (Physics of the Heart). Took them both the Spring of my Freshman year. Most fun I had in a classroom in undergrad by far.

Physics of the heart? This sounds like a biophysics/physiology crossover?

Physics and Religious Studies have been my favorite subjects so far. I'm planning to take a seminar course on 'Neuroscience and Consciousness' next year, which sounds really interesting too.

Most fun from a learning perspective: biochemistry and physics

Most fun in general: Ecology while studying abroad in Ireland. Aka me + 15 friends traipsing around beaches and bogs with Guinness hangovers.

Getting into med school is important but don't forget to take a few fun classes ;-)

Biochem II and History of American Medicine.

I would actually like to add, that I loved my lab course in SCANNING ELECTRON MICROSCOPY 😀

i will love all my courses even the ones i don't take.

Learning the Alphabet 101.

I was a beast in that class.

I actually really, really enjoyed organic chemistry, weird right? For fun, I like ancient history courses as well as psychology classes. Also, physiology was pretty fun

Brain-computer interface was amazingly fun, but hard as hell

Drawing, painting, or poetry!

I really liked Comparative Animal Physiology. It gave me a lot of insight into human physiology, but also compared it to other animals. Super interesting!

Metaphysics and epistemology. Highly recommended for improving your logic and reasoning skills, as well as making you question whatever you thought you knew about anything.

Advanced Jazz Composition was definitely my favorite. After that, biochem for sure.

As an undergraduate, Physical Chemistry. Molecular Pathogenesis was a close second

As a graduate student, Host/Pathogen Interactions

Biomedical Engineering. I was a ChemE major undergrad and applying engineering to the human body was fascinating (even if it was only an intro course)

favorite subject? Physics, followed by Math
favorite class? Korean, followed by Ochem (and Ochem lab, at least once I got the hang of things)

Cell Biology Lecture/Lab was probably my favorite science class.

However, I think I most enjoyed my English class, and my two Spanish classes. They were probably the most fun overall.

Ethics was pretty fun, I really liked Calc, as well, but that was because I loved my professor's teaching style.

Botany, although the prof. taught it more like ethnobotany. Some might see it as boring but it really changed my perspective on the natural world.

Loved microbiology

Absolutely. I'm majoring in it. 😀 Microbes are like pets; you feed and grow them and observe their behavior. And they also might kill you, but you know.

Probably the most mind-blowing class was "Cross Communication of the Gospel" (taken at a Nazarene school). Mostly it was a cultural intelligence class where we learned the differences between cultures and how countries operate. It was when I learned that America's methods are NOT the best; they are just different.😱

Only completed freshman year but really liked Gen chem and calc II

*note: I despised calc I

Sent from my phone! Blame it on the a-a-autocorrect.

Mine was actually Philosophy. Only cause it was taught by an amazing professor.
I sat in a lecture with a less quality of a professor, holy crap, the difference of quality is amazing. The quality of a professor you have for a class like Philosophy matters a lot.

Advanced topics in Immunology. 20 person class and had three amazing professors and learned to give presentations about scientific articles

Definitely parasitology. Interesting material and amazing professor.

The only pre-req that I've taken so far:

Chem I and II

I think I'm enjoying it more because they've been my most difficult classes than anything... and I enjoy math.

Yes. Taught by BME/Physics faculty. Learn basic electrophysiology and EKG as well as some flow dynamics.

Nice! Closest thing I took to that was Physiology714 - Cardiac Electrophysiology. Balling course.

probably a tie between thermodynamics and nonlinear systems.
