Aside from the medical aspect of it, what's your philosophical/cultural view on it?
It could be considered a taboo operation due to the simple fact that your breaking fully functional legs, succumbing yourself in a wheelchair/bed for potentially up to one year, voluntarily to undergo pain, risk of severe infection, and the high cost for only a mere inch or two of height. In addition, the physiotherapy is highly exhausted with crucial pain.
Many have stated that you should accept yourself for who you are. However, some may beg to differ. Usually, the common phase goes "play the cards you are dealt with," but I truly believe that "there is no problem with changing the cards you are dealt with in life."
Whatever the reason for undergoing this operation: boost of confidence or being taken seriously in terms of dating and in your occupation. I could understand that there are two arguments for and against this surgical procedure. Of course, this is entirely a cosmetic operation and for only an inch or two of height increase, I wouldn't think its worth the time, pain, patience, and money. However, if the surgery were to increase your height by 3-6 inches, I still wouldn't advocate for this procedure because it would not make you very proportioned with your torso.
