Im doing usmle notes and even though I study about 7-8 hours per day I only seem to be finishing appx 6 chapters/day (along w/ making notes)

What is your speed when it comes to studdying?

I feel like a ****** thinking that Ive only done 6 chapters ( 30 pages) in 7 hrs.....

do you guys feel that making notes helps at the end or is it a total waste of time??

Any advice ?😡

I plan on taking the exam april 15th...at this speed do you think I can make it?

reading speed is depend person to person and also on mood

some time when we have in good mood we can read faster and some time can't

but making notes obviously helps read faster so make note as much as possible

Everybody's different- some people need an hour to do 1 page while some others do 5 pages in the same time.

Concentrate on retention and recall. And review.

thanks La Fea and dentousa....
dentousa...i feel like making notes slows me down while im reading (and writing notes) but I think what you meant to say was that they help later on when you want to do a quick read?

La Fea, ive taken the exam before and pretty much I try to see what they would ASK out of the material...but 2nd time around there's a perpetual 'panick mode' im in while studdying....fear of failure (times 2) ....and that inhibits me from doing the the best.

oh ok. I understand.
Then I dont have to tell you that extra stress is counter productive right?😀

Be calm and then kick some exam butt. Good luck.

I feel making notes is very helpful and you are not at all wasting your time. Notes help very much in revision.

Regarding speed, try to do specific number of pages in specific time, eg 10 pages in 1 hour or so. Setting such target will keep you alert and read faster.

I hope this helps.
