What keeps you going when your brain doesn't want to study?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I am at the end of my semester and getting burnt out. Any tips to help me break through it?
I usually just get extremely motivated. I don't know why, I end up studying harder than before. But it really ruins my mentality in the long run. I guess in your case, set yourself a reward.

Everyone goes through burnout. Here are some personal tips:

-Breathe. Relax.

-Turn off technology(includes televisions and your phone)

-Rest for a few minutes to restore yourself

-Honestly make sure your eating enough and eating right. Drink water.

- Sometimes motivation don't work...self-discipline is what you need and a plan. Remember not to do 10 things at one time.

-Don't work on the same subject for hours at a time. That gets very boring. Change your study locations and make sure you're studying in natural light. Study where the sun is shining.

listening to rap pumps me up, but then again not everyone can study with music

Try setting up a plan of attack. You can trick yourself by saying you'll start with something small/easy and after that is completed, you can go back to procastinating on youtube or SDN. Once you get started, often you get the momentum and don't want to stop.

Move study spots. I found going to a empty classroom or the bandhall post rehearsal was perfect because there was nothing besides me and my books. I also found a piece or two of music that kept me super focused for whatever reason.

I remember that the work needs to be done eventually, and tell my brain that it will suck exponentially more the longer I put things off - works most of the time lol, unless I want to nap
