I was wondering, what kind of work can you find in the private sector that involves electrical engineering and medical school? Image processing ? I tried google for an answer, but nothing really comes up.

Build that cyborg you've always wanted to?

Presumably, getting the MD means that the job you'd be going for could reasonably be described as "doctor," or else you're wasting everyone's time including yours.

That said, you could work with BMEs to bridge the gap between the engineering and the clinical application.

Oh, I don't know, maybe work as a doctor or something to that effect.

But seriously, yea, there are plenty of just plain old doctors with engineering degrees. Although, if you really wanted to you could get in to some sort of research/design/consulting.

This.

I talked to a girl a while back who said she was "unfortunately" premed, as she wanted to do straight research but with human tissue, and "you need an MD for that, so I guess I'll go to med school."

This is most certainly not the case...
