What kind of writing class would help the most with the MCAT writing sample ?

Would it be better to take an english class ? or a history class that requires papers ? or perhaps a technical writing class of some kind.

Any suggestions ?

You don't really need to take a writing class to prepare for the MCAT writing section. A better way to prepare is to stay updated with the news and pratice outlining your thoughts.

IN general, your outline for the writing section should be something like this:

1. Thesis (with an example)
2. Antithesis (with an example)
3. Synthesis (in what situation is your thesis correct. in what situation is your antithesis correct.)

No one cares about the writing section. A buddy of mine got an "O". An interviewer asked him "You got a zero on a section of the MCAT. How did you get an interview here?". He had to explain to the interviewer how this section of the MCAT is scored. I got a 35M and I got interviews everywhere I applied and no one asked about the poor writing score.

LOL, what a *****. You cant even get a "zero" on any section. BTW, i got an M on the writing section, when i managed a 5 on the AP english test. The writing sample is a joke.

This is good advice. The writing section really isn't very important. And as long as you can follow the formula sdnstud just gave you, you'll do fine.
