Hi Guys,

I already have 50 hrs of shadowing time with a general practitioner.

Just to get a wider outlook, I have decided to shadow a periodontics specialist. I was just wondering, do dental schools value shadowing general dentists more than specialists or not really?

I am just worrying whether they will think I obtained to narrow a view by shadowing this periodontics dentist (even though I have 50 hrs of general dent. too). Does it matter at all?

Any opinions?

Dental schools like to see that you shadowed different specialists and dentists, the more the better obviously. Familarize yourself with different specialties to gain a better understanding, but in the end, it is good to shadow a general dentist because afterall, this is primarily what you are going to dental school for (or the adcoms like to think of it that way). Good luck.
