I already had to drop a class due to a death in the family that cuased me to miss a lot of class. I ended up bombing the first test and did not want to risk getting a C that would bring down my gpa. I am currently not doing so well in a calc class and am considering dropping it becuase i do not want to end up getting a C and hurting my gpa. I was wondering how bad q-drops look compared to Cs that cuase my gpa to be lower. Thanks 🙂

It's better to take the Ws, as you have a good reason to blame them on. But a consistent use of this strategy could eventually bite you. Try not to make a habit of it.

That said, dropping the classes can raise unrelated issues for some if it makes them a part-time student, as they might no longer qualify for their health insurance, for any graduation guarantee given by their school, or for educational loans. Be sure to explore wider implications if you take this path.
