You have to be a good people person. Being an extrovert helps. I genuinely enjoy meeting new people (AKA new patients). People personality skills that conveys confidence in your treatment and trust that you will take care of your patient's teeth for life. This is the foundation. Patient trust. Everything else: business skills, which school you graduated from, possibly skill and speed, high tech equipment, etc. etc. is secondary.

I want to change my previous answer. The sign of a good dentist is what's in the parking lot. Honda Civic probably not good. Mercedes g wagon means good dentist.

What view point are you asking about? Patients? Or employees? Skill? I’ve worked with some dentist that patients love but are complete jerks to their staff. I’ve also worked with dentist that are really nice to both staff and patients, but their work is horrible. So what do you mean “a good dentist”?

Communication skillz
