Except for maybe the most technical surgical fields (and really even then) being good with patients and a good team player makes you a good doctor. Rad onc is no different.
You are caring for cancer patients and have to be able to relate to them and earn their trust to help them make tough choices.
Likewise, it's a very multidisciplinary field. The more the med oncs, surg oncs and outside physicians respect you and what you do the more referrals you will get. This will also lead to better patient care as patients can at least hear your opinion before getting surgery etc.
You need to be good at what you do, but most people are. That won't be the separating factor.
