So if i already had sent my application in and then retook the MCAT at the end of the summer, what makes them know the new score is ready such that they will pick up my file again and review it? I assume no one has looked at my application waiting for this score since i said i was retaking.

I am interested in finding out the answer to that too, since Im in the same boat as you regarding MCAT scores. Honestly, i dont know if they do. As for me, I have been trying to contact ppl at the school directly so that I could notify them about it. Some schools have been cool about accepting and evaluating based on current schools, whereas others have not, and to some extent, have been just plain bitchy about accepting new mcat scores.

To make SURE they find out about the scores, you have to go back and update your AMCAS app with the new date and then resubmit it. (You won't have to get back in the verification line again, though.) The schools get weekly updates from AMCAS, so they should get your new scores.

However, if you applied without giving the Sep MCAT date on your original AMCAS, a number of schools may have reviewed your app already with the lower score, and they usually won't go back and do it again. So you should send update letters to all your schools also, to make sure they're aware of the new score.
