What makes math hard???

the questions in themselves are not necessarily "hard" but to do those questions in the allotted time is a bitc*. i always used to tell myself that if i had abt 20 more minutes i could nail every single question, then i realized that i don't have another 20 minutes and thats the whole point. basically, you should be able to look at a question, figure out what its asking for, set it up and solve it all under 1 minute. for many quesion, its a pretty no brainer - basically u can look at it and know what the answer is. but for other questions, you have to set up elaborate equations and variables and junk. its not hard but to do it in such a short amount of time is what makes it crazy.
also, the fact the after ur done with this section ur gonna know ur score right away is also kinda nerve wracking!

Def the amount of time. I pushed myself to do exactly 30 questions in 45 minutes.. Some of the word problems are tricky to read.. and takes a few time to really read them over to get the question... skip those fast.. come back to them later! if not.. just guess
Well, they're bad when you're freakin' out and all the sudden you realize that you're hand has slid over the board and has erased half of your calculations. Besides, the damn marker kept dying on me every 10-15 seconds.
Time was terrible. No matter how much practice I did for math, I was always pressed for time. Plus, having to do all calculations by hand or mentally. I hadn't done math in a really long time, so I really missed being able to use a calculator.
did any of the questions require to only setup the answers for the math sections or did you have to calculate them all out? also is there room for estimation/rounding on the math? i heard for gen chem theres room for rounding/estimation bc the answer choices are pretty far apart.
At least in my version of the test.. u have to solve everything and i couldn't use rounding/estimation to help me on those problems.

I find it helpful to get the fine point markers. Those medium tip markers suck really bad, especially when they are blunt. Your 3's start looking like 8's, 5's look like 6's...and not only that but leave the marker on the board for too long and it drys up! It's like you gotta give it a nice spit shine, seriously
And how exactly are you planning on taking those fine point markers into the test?😕

i just diidnt wanna specify the gender that's all.
Some test centers have fine points. The test center I went to had both but you have to request for them. I first used the medium point on the chem section and right off the first question I switched over to the fine point.

Do you think I could bring them and have the Prometric people inspect them before I take the test or is that completely out of the question? I just want markers that won't dry out!...I'm going to have a nervous breakdown if they do!
I don't know dude! The people at my center were pretty anal about taking additional stuff into the exam. They even made me remove my ring!
So, I really don't think you can take your own markers inside. What you can do, however, is to ask them for more than 2 markers and check them before going in. I asked for 6 markers and the lady was cool about it.

Wow, thats hard core. I visited the center last week and the lady was really nice and laid back (her only rule was not to wear any type of outerwear...dress in layers not jackets). Were 6 markers enough? Cuz the way I see it is if they are all dry...more of them won't help the situation. Should I bring some with me just in case? My test is in less than a week and I'm really nervous! Aaaaahhhh!

You're right, they all eventually start drying out, but when you have 6 of them you can keep switching between them. That's what I did, and it wasn't really that bad!
