Hi guys! Congrats to everyone who has been accepted to veterinary schools! For those that are still waiting... don't lose hope yet!

I've read many posts for different schools c/o 2025 and I am curious: what do you see in that school/program that makes you know that's the one for you?

I am accepted to a few schools but as an international student, I feel like I might not understand the school as well as I want to. I have basic understandings like I know that Colorado has an outstanding equine program, Cornell's dairy is awesome, but I would like to know more about different schools! Please share your thoughts with me about your selection process. What is so outstanding about that school that makes you committed?

There's a whole thread for this and also a shared document 🙂

The honest answer: You will get a good education at any school and all the "this schools has more this or that" is kind of bull****. If you want more equine experience-- go get it, your school doesn't matter. If you want exotic experience-- go get it, again, the school doesn't matter. If you want more cattle experience-- go get it.

Overall, where you go to school really isn't going to change anything much. I attended two different schools and the differences in education were minor and the few extra clubs at the second school, overall, didn't make a large impact.

Missed that! Thank you!!

Go for the cheapest school. You’ll thank yourself later when you have half as many loans and have more financial freedom when job hunting and literally the rest of your life. Also, rankings don’t matter and some schools straight up refuse to participate in the ranking program because it’s based mostly on how many research papers your school publishes.

You can always get more experience in specific fields over breaks or during clinics with externships, like dvmd mentioned.
