hey everyone, if I have done MCAT last summer and I have most if the basics done, what material do you guys recommend me to get? Im mainly looking for practice material, thank you!

The MCAT and DAT are nothing alike. You should consider starting your preparation as if it were from scratch. Look into Bootcamp, DAT Destroyer, and Chad's videos.

I understand that Dat and MCAT have different formats, thats why Im going to focus on doing a lot of questions, but I believe the basics are still the same from my understanding

I took both exams myself. You really need to know the fundamentals of everything you learned in undergrad pre-reqs. The DAT is much more straightforward, but there aren't any passages to help you as you probably know. There's a ton of content on the DAT not tested on the MCAT. You either know it or you don't, and that's why I suggest reviewing everything even if you think you know it.

DAT destroyer is 100% essential. Look into Bootcamp, it's a web based software that is great to utilize as full lengths. There are also the 2007 and 2009 official DAT practice exams.

Cliffs bio 3rd edition and Feralis' notes (located on the Bootcamp website). Destroyer bio is excellent and should really be utilized to drill concepts in after you review content.

DAT Destroyer contains bio, gem chem, organic chem, and a short math section. Math Destroyer is a book purely for the QR section (it's brutally hard).

Your breed is quite rare, was this pre or post MCAT rework?

I originally took the MCAT because I was pre-med at the time. Then around 8 months later took the DAT.

Just curious, were you happy with how you did on the mcat? I heard the new mcat is a gong show, according to my friends with super high marks. That said, I go to a canadian university and I heard american universities are much tougher.

Not really. I had no real drive when I was studying because I wasn't sure I wanted to go to med school, so my score reflected that. It was really hard haha. The new MCAT, according to friends of mine, is just overkill (and it is 7.5 hours long).

Haha I see, congrats on your Penn acceptance! I'm happy I won't be writing the MCAT. On one hand, it would be nice to not have my friends complain about how easy the DAT is compared to the MCAT. But at the same time, I would hate to have to read confusing passages for 8 hours haha. Just hoping I do ok on my DAT... the canadian school I am aiming for seems to weigh it alot.

Thank you! Haha they are both difficult in different ways.
