Off the top of my head, from the most recent MSAR (on my phone, please correct me if I’m wrong):I am not super familiar with the Florida MD schools but I'd guess averages are in the ~510 range. You need to be above that average to make sure that schools can look at that 1st MCAT and view it as just a fluke.
Depends pretty heavily on your repeat MCAT score.Thank you. What if I apply to early decision to FSU? Do you think I would have a good shot at this? Since I am set on primary care
I'd say 510+Hey guys. Given these stats, what MCAT score do I need to be competitive? Retaking in June.
Keep in mind I am trying to be as objective as possible. I am aiming for any FL MD schools. I am graduating in May. I am also aiming for primary care.
MCAT last year: 497 (128,122,123,124)
GPA 3.98
LOR: Average in terms of quality from my science profs and non science prof. Pretty strong in terms of quality, for my character letter (from doctors, non-profits.
PS: Pretty strong, did 37 drafts and multiple people have said its very good.
Activities:
-No publications
-2 semesters clinical research
-1 semester bench research (course credit)
-300 hours clinical volunteer (hospitals)
-1000 hours clinical work experience (scribing)
-1500 hours non-clinical volunteer (big brothers, started an organization to help people quit smoking, homeless shelter)
-100 hours shadowing
-500 hours leadership experience (student government legislative liaison)
-student leadership award, ethics scholarship for helping people in the community
I am also a CC transfer with 2 W's in first year (Bio1+Lab) and 1 W in senior year (foreign language)
I'm asking bc I know many schools average MCAT. But given these stats, what would you say I need to get on my MCAT to be competitive this cycle? Mainly for Florida MD schools.
Jeeeze, USF is gunning for Stanford/Harvard class! And UF for Keck class!Off the top of my head, from the most recent MSAR (on my phone, please correct me if I’m wrong):
UF: 514
UM: 513
USF: 516
UCF: 512
FAU: 512
FIU: 512
FSU: 506
Nova: N/A
So I’d say shoot for 512+, but ideally 514-515+ considering your first MCAT. Regardless of MCAT medians, you should always shoot for the highest score possible to give yourself the best odds. Shoot for a 528. Good luck!
