I am a sophomore, and I will be done with all the pre-med reqs after this semester. I want to know what medical schools or at least a tier of medical schools I should be looking at. I honestly have been so focused on basically just school work that I never gave much thought as to what schools I want to go and such.
I am interested in so many fields of medicine: optometry, oncology, primary care, etc.

Overall GPA: 3.94 Science GPA: 3.97

at a top twenty school

extra-curricular
- shadowing a psychiatrist
-research at HIV Vaccine lab
- have been tutoring at local elementary school from freshman year
-weekly volunteer at a hospital
-worked as a student clinician assistant
(although I do realize that I need more leadership positions and more clinical work)

As for MCAT, I haven't taken them yet, but my practice scores usually range from 35 to 38. Again, it's only a practice score..

Thank you very much for all your help 🙂

@chm9332

You should probably read some older posts about deciding b/t different schools.... not to mention the MSAR.

You should probably google that optometry thing too.

Until the new spreadsheet is ready, you could download this google.doc spreadsheet data (an SDN collaborative effort from 6/2011), so you can fill in your own theoretical application stats (on the “Your Stats” sheet at the very bottom), and it will tell you for which US med schools you’re competitive. You may need to add in any new schools not yet included.

You can then research any schools in which you have an interest with what's in the MSAR, on each school's website, and from information you'll find in school-specific threads here on SDN.
