everything! some classical, classic rock, oldies, country, contemporary, soft rock, latin.....but i have the feeling that it is not so much what will i play...but what I will be singing along with....

i am definitely going to be the dentists that inadvertantly seranades their patients! hehe.... 🙂

No hard core gangsta rap?

the radio. one of those popular but less risky stations, so the music will be fun but not offend anyone.

Not just any old radio...but XM Radio. Forget the advertisements.

In the office i work at we only play classical and cross like josh groban, mario frangoulis(amazing and by far most of our patients favorite!) andrea bochelli some celine dion some italian and french music and other stuff like that. the radio is hard to control even mellow stations can have offending music sometimes, i've been to a lot of dental offices that played music from the radio, but nothing beats our selection in a combination with a little water fountain and some candles here and there...being able to calm your patient before you drill in his/her mouth is what essentially separates you from the competition along with quality dental work. 👍

i always hated the elevator style music and waaay overplayed soft music/rock. i alwys thought of having international music, but I like that idea of josh gorban, new ageish music, you want the patients to listen to something yet be calm too.

My office will definitely be dedicated to children, so Im planning on killing my brain with constant Disney movies/music all day :scared:

Kinda sucks though, cause I wouldnt mind doing a Class 2 prep rocking to the Beatles or doing an extraction during the guitar riff in Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven! 😎

I think they have a service similar to XM that businesses use. It plays music specifically targeted towards businesses, it might be a version of satellite.

good question... something that I've actually thought about for a while.

I really want to avoid the generic soft rock radio that I hear all the time. I want really good classical... mmmm piano music. Rachmaninoff... mmm. Except it'll have to be calming. Calming music is really good for offices. I want to try to avoid anything that'll make situations tense. Maybe fun music, ska? Haha. I suppose we'll all make that decision in the future.

i observed at an office that played jack johnson. i thought it was really nice.

Besides the ipods for patient listening during procedures (let them choose thier own music I say), I plan on filling a whole ipod with just about anything not offensive and hitting random button. Everyday would be a totally unique
playlist with none of that easy-listening, john tesh, Yanni "does the sounds of things" crap.

XM or Muzak would be cool, but why pay to hear someone elses music? Its bad enough at the dentist I work now: every day the same 6 cds. ahhhhhhhh

Something soft and relaxing...

I really like nature sounds like rain, outside...wind breezing, chimes, etc. I play it when I'm trying to go to sleep...

The visit to the dentist should be a holistic experience in mi opinion.
I love the idea of a dental spa 🙂 A friend of mine and I have talked about doing something like that...she's a massage/respiratory therapist...

Anywho,

Something to put the patient at ease

K-LOVE: Positive and Encouraging Radio

This is the radio station my dentist plays in his office. I enjoy it quite a bit and I would probably do the same if I opened up a practice. Try listening to it on the website link above. Click on Music and then click on Listen.

Other options for me would probably include streaming internet radio based on mood or something like that. DEFINITELY NO COMMERCIALS!!!

Yahoo Music Stations

Launchcast Music

Microsoft Music Network Music Stations

Talk Radio for you Republicans out there...

Lets see if we can't get some links to other radio stations that you could listen to in your practice on here as well!!

Vivaldi and Dvorak, with some of "Nature's Relaxing Sounds"; knock the patients into a stupor withOUT drugs, that's the key

The music I listen to to focus is what my fiancee calls "stressful". So it looks like I'll do some oral/IV sedation so I can get my jam on in the operatory!

Obama's college mix tapes...

Whichever drives business away the fastest and scares the little kids, so hardcore gangsta rap.
But seriously, 80s rock, ambient sounds, soft rock and whichever mainstream song that isnt garbage and whatever else is appropriate for a wait room.

Tupac and Biggie... Maybe I'll throw in some Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift

I would play the popular songs in piano version. My all time favorite is from Frozen - Let it go!

Why did you resurrect a decade old thread...? And of course Katy Perry, sometimes I feel like a plastic bag you know?

This guy. All the time.

Apparently he's not Krispy Kreme anymore, probably for obvious copyright reasons. It's FroggyFresh now.

You're welcome.

I plan on playing Creed's My Own Prison for every hour of operation. Everybody will want to come to my office

Being able to play the music I want to a whole bunch of people who are forced to listen is the biggest reason why I want to become a dentist 😀
I probably will play my own selection of music from the Eurovision Song Contest. Some other days I might just play top 40 stuff from the 2000s and 2010s (by the time I'm able to get my own office, they will probably be considered oldies).
