Current MD applicant here wondering which applicants Adcoms prioritize sending II's to first. Are applicants ordered by completion date, super high stats, X factors, or something else?

I'm a bit concerned bc I believe I have a decent application: 3.86/519, scribing, independent research with poster, 4 semesters of TA experience, conduct board, worked in a recycling factory. Currently an undergrad senior at T20 school. I applied somewhat top heavy: Mayo, Stanford, Duke, Yale, UPenn, Emory, Vanderbilt, Michigan, UVA, Sinai, Albert Einstein, Hofstra, URochester, Dartmouth, Wake Forest, George Washington, OHSU, Cincinnati, NYU Long Island, MCG (state school). I'm lucky to have had one interview from MCG so far, but I'm concerned that I haven't heard back from any other schools. My application lacks an X factor, so I was wondering if they send II's out first to X factor applicants and then send the remaining interview spots to decent applications lacking X factors? Starting to lose hope :/

I don’t think anyone can predict the order in which they review and send IIs. I know high stat URM veterans who have not received IIs after being complete for 2-3 months and you would think they would get reviewed first. No one really knows and every school has a different system for sorting. You have an II and a solid app so i’d say lay back and do something fun to keep the mind off it! They’ll get to you.

A school that thinks about this strategically will get the interview invites out to those it perceives as "superstars but within our pool of likely matriculants" first because these applicants are going to have many interviews and may choose to stop interviewing, or be more selective about accepting invitations, after an offer is received (usually mid-Oct through mid-Nov). A school that is yield protecting might not believe it has a shot at the applicants that will choose Penn or Stanford over a mid-tier private at a similar price point.

MCG may see you as a superstar that it has a chance to land because you are IS and it might not be wrong, particularly if it ends up being your only offer.

Thank you for both of your responses and from the legend LizzyM herself! And that makes sense. Even though I'm not a superstar for a lot of these schools, I hope they give me a chance later this season.

Schools stratify the apps as they come in and don't send out secondaries or IIs merely in chronological order.

If you're not an OR resident, OHSU was a donation.

Thank you Goro, and sorry I meant Ohio State, not OHSU. I always get them mixed up for some reason
