What other fields can radiology be combined with

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
i believe there is a nice 14 year combined radiology/plastic surgery residency

so would what you guys recommend?

Why are you planning to combine radiology with something else? This is the question you have to answer. Do you want to combine radiology with something so you can do both? That isn't really a practical choice. You would likely do one or the other, so why train in both? If you can't figure out which one you like then just do more electives and figure it out.

If you want to do radiology, do radiology. If you want to do something else, do something else. Doing both is not going to make you better at anything - it will more likely dilute you. There are a lot of premeds who think that more degrees is better, more residencies is better, etc. Nonsense. Extra stuff doesn't make you a "super doctor" or anything - it's kind of like people who do double majors in college for no real reason other than that they can.

Agreed. There is a push for these combination degrees and I don't see the practical use for them, I see the theoretical use.

EM/IM
Med/Peds
Med/Psych
even Family/Psych, yeah they have this

Choose one and focus on it. You will most likely be practicing one or the other, unless you are faculty at one of said programs. I agree with the above poster that it doesn't make you a 'super doc', it actually could be detrimental. You do lose time from each specialty and bounce back and forth during your training, I would prefer to be immersed in my specialty from the beginnning to the end.

they reason i wanted to combine is because I have heard a lot of people saying that radiology is repetitive and boring. Is that not the case
?

Wow, my TROLL-o-meter has been blipping but it just went off the charts and shorted out....

If your comment was legit, I've seen Asperger kids with more tact than that. 😱

If banging your head against the wall over and over again was painful and repetitive--- would you consider it? If you think thats the case for radiology why are you even considering it?
