Just wanted to take a survey of SDNers to get an idea of how low down on a rank list one could potentially place.

Understandably there is variation due to field, how broadly applied, stats...
I couldn't find other threads dealing with this and so decided to put one here.
Figure this might be interesting info. 🙂

Oh yeah, but the way, this poll is anonymous. Previous applicants, thanks in advance for your votes !

Match Rate, 2009
Ninety-three percent of U.S. medical school seniors matched to a residency program this year; 82 percent of these students matched to one of their top three choices. Among all other types of participants, 47 percent matched to a residency program; 81 percent of these individuals matched to one of their top three program choices.

Most likely you'll get one of your top 3, but almost 20% of people don't. I recall one person last year who went down to 7 or 8 on his list - so you just never know.

Thanks for the info Babel !
Thanks for all the votes so far everyone 👍👍

Thank you everyone for voting !!!

OMG! I'm starting to freak out a little about the not matching contingency. And over on the neuro board, people this year all seem to be pretty competitive 🙁
