I'm curious to what MD students use as reference books besides textbooks and notes...such as Made Ridiculously simple series, BRS, Lippincots, etc. In subjects such as:
1.) Embryology
2.) Pathology
3.) Internal Medicine
4.) OB/GYN
5.)Histology
6.)Biochemistry
7.) Pharmacology
8.) Neuroscience
9.) Pediatrics
10.)Psychiartry
11.) ENT
12.) Genetics
13.) Radiology
14.) Heme/Onc
15.)Microbiology
16.) Cardiology/ Pulmonology
17.) Biostatistics
18.) Behavioral Sciences
19.) Board Review books for USMLE Step I

Too many questions in one little post! You can probably find the answers by doing a search.

I used Lippencott's for biochem, otherwise BRS rocks my socks. Well, I guess I should say that I use high yield, too, but that's only b/c one of our profs writes the books so our notes are the next edition of the book. ;)

Lucky you...His books ROCK. :)

1.) Embryology - used Carlson's Embryology text
2.) Pathology - used and recommend BRS
3.) Internal Medicine - recommend Fishman's
4.) OB/GYN - used and recommend Beckmann
5.)Histology - used Wheater
6.)Biochemistry - used Lippincott
7.) Pharmacology - didn't use one but heard Lippincott is good
8.) Neuroscience - didn't use one, book put me to sleep, i burned it
9.) Pediatrics - Blueprint's
10.)Psychiartry - Blueprint's (less than 100 pages)
11.) ENT - n/a
12.) Genetics - didn't use one
13.) Radiology - used a book written by Felson's (i think) for reading CXRs
14.) Heme/Onc - didn't use one
15.)Microbiology - Micro made ridiculously simple
16.) Cardiology/ Pulmonology - Lilly's book on cardiology/didn't use one
17.) Biostatistics - ack!
18.) Behavioral Sciences - High Yield behavioral sciences
19.) Board Review books for USMLE Step I
BRS path
Micro made ridiculously simple
Pharm Cards (although I should have used Lippincotts in retrospect)
BRS physiology
High yield anatomy
High yield embryology
Lippincott's biochem
High yield neuroscience
High yield behavioral sciences
N.B. USMLE step I stresses more M2 year than M1 year. Hence, studying anatomy, histology, cell biology, biochemistry, physiology is relatively low yield. Not that you shouldn't review those subjects but I would at least skim through them and then concentrate on pathology, microbiology, and pharmacology.

1.) Embryology - High Yield
2.) Pathology - BRS + big Robbins + Robbins review questions
3.) Internal Medicine - NMS
4.) OB/GYN - Blueprints
5.)Histology - class slides + Junqueira if needed
6.)Biochemistry - Lippincott
7.) Pharmacology - anything
8.) Neuroscience - can't remember
9.) Pediatrics - aren't you getting a little too obsessed?
10.)Psychiartry
11.) ENT
12.) Genetics
13.) Radiology
14.) Heme/Onc
15.)Microbiology - BRS, but everyone else hates it.
16.) Cardiology/ Pulmonology
17.) Biostatistics - High Yield
18.) Behavioral Sciences - BRS
19.) Board Review books for USMLE Step I - run a search

Thanks for answering my long winded question. I appreciate it  , no one on the DO forum answered my post there as well. Now I have something to compare what I've been using and what else I could get.

Respiratory - West
Renal- Keoppen and Stanton (mosby)
Anatomy & Neuroanatomy- BRS
also Gilman and Newman for neuro

6.)Biochemistry--Lippincott
7.) Pharmacology--class notes
8.) Neuroscience--HY and Nolte (the human brain)
9.) Pediatrics--No clue yet
10.)Psychiartry--The four perspectives of psychiatry (probably not useful to u if your school uses DSMIV)
11.) ENT--No clue
