What RNA acts as an enzyme??

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
The intervening sequence (IVS) of the ribosomal RNA. The IVS catalyzes its own excision from precursor RNA and at the same time ligation of the flanking sequences.

The excised IVS RNA can act as an enzyme to catalyze sequence-specific cleavage and ligation reactions on substrate RNA molecules.
