Hi guys,
US-IMG whose primary interest is Family Medicine.
If my attending agrees to write an LOR, should I mention to them to explicitly say my first choice is Family Medicine? Or should I ask them to say Primary Care Practitioner?
Though my first choice is Family Medicine, I'm planning to apply to Internal Medicine as a back-up, primarily because I want to match the first time around and maximize my chances.
Does this make a big difference? If they wrote Primary Care, I think I could use the LOR for my IM application as well, especially since I'll only be doing 4 months of USCE.
Also, anything else I can do to improve my chances? I completed all my steps (besides Step 3), and will go to the AAFP conference this year. Planning to do another month of FM observership after graduation before the match.
