What should I be asking for/what do I need as a future medical student?

Duolingo. Rosetta Stone.
A slow cooker. A sack of beans and rice.

I like all of these. If you don't speak spanish yet, now is the time to start. I spent four years doing an hour a week and goodness did it pay off.

Also, make it red beans and rice. That ish is delish! I will add in an air fryer. With an air fryer and slow cooker you can make almost everything.

If you don’t have basic apartment things - high yield. InstaPot is fire.

As medic said, noise cancelling head phones are good.

If you need to get something school related --> First Aid.

Most of all... enjoy free time. It's about to be limited.

Xbox One with Call of Duty.

A laptop with a lot of space for movies and games, and enough power to run them. I mean, what else are you going to do if you have mandatory lectures?

A nice set of headphones so you can play movies and games in class. Playing without sound kind of sucked, but it was fun that we had a whole row of students playing Starcraft/Age of Empires at once.. though I think the new thing for you kids is like League of Legends or some such?

I disagree with House MD. The most realistic medical show to learn from is Scrubs (no joke, right down to the fantasies in the head it gets it right)

A big box of whatever your favorite ramen is

Maybe your alcohol palate is not up there, but ask for a bottle of something expensive, make friends your first day.

A Steam giftcard

A comfortable desk chair

A comfortable desk

A very comfortable blanket and pillows, maybe two pillows to share 🙂

Do NOT ask for fancy opthalmoscope or otoscope! Get the cheapest ones if your school makes you get them.

You do NOT need a ten million dollar stethoscope! A sturdy simple one will last you decades.

Maybe a nice comfortable set of scrubs. Please don't get it embroidered, you will make yourself a target. Though to be fair, I put Star Wars patches all over mine and I'm the pimp on the floors.

If you want the ability to sleep anywhere on a dime, the new airpods. Go in noise cancelling mode, turn on a 3rd part white noise app, and enjoy bliss
